ATLANTIS HOSPITAL

We received a request to assist to upgrade the examination room at Atlantis Hospital. It is very small and the perfect solution would be a container outside. This was not part of our planning for the year, but we cannot turn a blind eye to the need!

our solution

1. ADOPTION PROJECT
Mobilizing faith based groups to adopt the police Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Units and Sexual Offences courts, for them to assist these units and courts with needs lists and spiritual support.

2. COMFORT PACKS
Supplying comfort packs to child-victims when they report crimes to the police. A pack will contain a snack, a soft drink, teddy bear, tooth paste & brush, colouring book & pencils, soap & wash cloth and underwear.

3. CHILD-FRIENDLY REPORTING FACILITIES
Creating child-friendly reporting facilities at police stations. Such a facility will include a waiting room, an child-friendly assessment room (with bed, play area and toys), linked with a two-way mirror facility to a monitoring room. (Audio-visual recording facilities are included).

4. TRAINING PROJECTS
We train police officers in soft skills to equip them to work with children. We also train doctors to do expert forensic medical examinations. Specialised services will result in better convicitions.

5. INCENTIVE AWARDS
We award police officers and individuals who has gone beyond the call of duty in helping and protecting our children.

6. TRAIN AND EQUIP FORENSIC SOCIAL WORKERS
We train and equip the forensic social workers at the police units with specialised tools and in skills.

7. UNIQUE PROJECTS
We host various unique projects in order to create awareness and educate the public on the rights of children. Included in this is a project to assist churches and schools to write their own child protection protocols.
